Funny Short Story Jokes:

1. Billy wants to get married:

Young Billy returned home one evening for dinner after spending the afternoon playing with his little friend Mary, who lived next door.

Naturally, his parents asked him what he’d been doing all afternoon.

We played soccer for a while, and then I proposed to Mary,” he said.

Not wishing to belittle him, his mom and dad went along with the idea, but his dad thought a little fatherly advice might be appropriate at this point.

Billy, being married is an expensive business,” said his dad. “How will you both manage?

Well,” said Billy, “with the $5 I get from you for pocket money each week and the $5 she gets from her folks, I think we’ll manage. And I can always take on a paper route to earn extra cash.

Suppressing a strong desire to burst out laughing, his mother said, “That’s all very well, Billy, but how will you and Mary manage if you were to have a baby?

Well,” said Billy, “we’ve been lucky to avoid that so far.

2. Ben goes to the pool:

Young Ben and his friends went to the local swimming pool for the afternoon.

They were playing around as kids do when the lifeguard shouted at Ben, “Hey, kid, you’re not allowed to pee in the pool!

But everyone pees in the pool,” Ben responded.

Maybe so, kid,” said the lifeguard, “but not from the high diving board.

3. Knock, Knock:

An elderly man was walking down the street one day when he observed a small boy struggling to reach the doorbell at one of the houses.

The kindly old man said to the boy, “Can I help you with that, sonny?

At which point he smiled and placed a comforting hand on the boy’s shoulder whilst pressing the doorbell firmly with his other hand.

There,” said the old man as he stepped back from the door. “Now, what do we do, young man?

We run like hell, mister,” the boy replied.

4. Potato family:

A family of potatoes sat down to dinner.

There was a mom potato, a dad potato, and three daughter potatoes.

The oldest daughter said, “I have some exciting news! I’m getting married!

Well, there was an excited response around the dinner table.

Oh, we’re so happy for you!” said dad potato, “Who’s the lucky guy?

He’s an Idaho potato,” his daughter responded.

That’s wonderful news,” said mom potato. “Idaho potatoes are solid, salt-of-the-earth types. Real hard workers.

The middle daughter then spoke, “Wow, what a coincidence. I also just received a proposal, too.

Again, there was a buzz of excitement around the table

And who proposed to you?” asked mom potato.

He’s a sweet potato,” said the daughter.

That’s wonderful,” said sad dad potato. “Sweet potatoes are known for their kindness and gentleness. He will take great care of you.

Well, now the third daughter felt it was time to have her say, “Mom and Dad, I’m getting married, too!

Oh, my goodness, all three of my daughters are getting hitched at the same time,” exclaimed dad potato. “Who is your future husband?

“Dan Rather,” said the youngest daughter potato.

A hush fell over the table. The parents and two older daughters looked awkwardly down at their plates.

What’s wrong with Dan Rather?” asked the youngest daughter potato.

Well, honey,” said the dad, “he’s just a common tater.”

5. Washing the dog:

Little Johnny went into the store, and after some searching around, he picked out a large box of laundry detergent.

Having observed Johnny for a few minutes, the store assistant asked him whether he had a lot of laundry to do.

No,” said Johnny, “I’m not doing any laundry. I’m going to wash my little dog.

The store assistant frowned at him and said, “Listen, sonny, that’s a powerful detergent and far too strong for washing a small dog. It could make him ill or perhaps even kill him if you’re not careful.

Undeterred, Little Johnny said he’d take the detergent anyway, and then he paid the man and left the store.

A week later, Little Johnny was back in the store to buy a Hershey bar. The store assistant saw him and said, “Hey Johnny, how’s your little dog?

Oh, he died,” said Little Johnny.

I’m sorry to hear that, son, but I did warn you about that detergent,” the store assistant replied.

I don’t think it was the detergent,” said Little Johnny.

Really?” said the store assistant. “So what was it then?

“He looked like he was coping very well until the washing machine went into the spin cycle,” Little Johnny replied.

Bill Smith was a hen-pecked husband who was tired of being bossed around by his domineering wife.

After giving it some thought, Bill decided to visit a psychiatrist for help.

The psychiatrist asked Bill a few questions and then said, “Mr Smith, you need to improve your self-esteem and become more assertive.”

And how do I do that?” asked Bill.

Read this book,” said the psychiatrist, “and use it as your guide.”

With that, the psychiatrist gave Bill his book on assertiveness.

Bill started reading the book on this way home, and he’d completed it by the time he reached his house.

Fizzing with ideas on how he could be more assertive, Bill stormed into the house and walked straight up to his wife.

From now on,” said Bill, jabbing his finger at his wife, “I want you to know that I am the man of the house, and my word is law!

His wife was momentarily speechless.

So, Bill continued, “I want you to prepare me a gourmet meal tonight, and when I’m finished eating my meal, I expect a sumptuous dessert afterwards. You got that?

A little surprised, his wife remained speechless but was growing increasingly irritated.

Bill carried on, “After dinner, I expect you to run a bath for me so that I can relax. And when I’m finished with my bath, guess who’s going to dress me and comb my hair?

Having regained her composure, Bill’s wife looked him in the eye with a steely glint and said, “A funeral director?

A drunken man staggered onto a subway train and sat next to a Catholic priest.

The man’s tie was stained, his face was plastered with red lipstick, and a half-empty bottle of gin was sticking out of his coat pocket. He opened his newspaper and began reading.

After a few minutes, the drunk turned to the priest and said, “Excuse me, Father, what causes arthritis?

My son,” the priest responded, “it’s caused by loose living, being with immoral women, drinking too much alcohol and having only contempt for your fellow man.”

Really?” said the drunk. “Well, I’ll be damned!” He then returned to reading his newspaper.

Having thought about what he’d said and feeling guilty, the priest nudged the man and apologised. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to be so judgmental. How long have you had arthritis?

I don’t have it, Father,” the man responded. “I was just reading here that the Pope does.”

8. The Budgie:

Geoffrey sees a budgie in the window of a pet store, and feeling a little sorry for the bird, he decides he’ll buy it.

However, he’s quickly disappointed when, despite his best efforts, he can’t get the budgie to talk.

So he decides to go back to the pet store to complain.

I purchased this budgie a month ago now, but I can’t get him to utter a single word,” said Geoffrey to the store assistant.

Try him with a mirror,” the store assistant suggested. “Budgies love to look at their reflection, and you’ll soon have him saying, “Who’s a pretty boy?

So Geoffrey purchased a mirror from the store assistant and returned home with his budgie.

Once again, he was disappointed, as the budgie still wouldn’t talk.

So once again, Geoffrey went to the pet store to complain.

Try him with a ladder”, said the store assistant. “Budgies love climbing, and I’m sure he won’t stop talking once he’s got a ladder.

So Geoffrey purchased a little ladder from the store assistant and returned home with his budgie.

Yet again, not a word was spoken by the budgie, so a week later, Geoffrey was back in the pet store again with the budgie.

Try getting him a bell,” said the store assistant. “The sound of a bell will encourage him to talk, I’m sure. At the very least, he’ll try to imitate the bell’s sound.

So Geoffrey bought the bell and returned home only to be disappointed yet again.

Two weeks later, Geoffrey’s back in the pet store.

How’s your budgie?” asked the store assistant. “Have you got it talking yet?

Finally, he did say something,” said Geoffrey. “He looked in the mirror, climbed the ladder, rang his bell, uttered a few words, and then dropped off his perch and died.

Oh dear!” said the store assistant. “What did he say?”

He said, doesn’t that damn pet store sell birdseed?” Geoffrey responded.

9. Giving evidence:

An old police officer is giving evidence in court.

The defence attorney is cross-examining him during a felony trial.

Naturally, the lawyer is trying everything he can to undermine the police officer’s credibility.

So, officer,” said the attorney, “did you see my client fleeing the scene?

No, sir,” said the police officer. “But later, I saw a person matching the description of the accused running several blocks away.”

Is that so, officer?” said the attorney, looking towards the jury, “and who provided you with this description?

My colleague, who was the first responder to the scene,” said the officer.

So, you’re telling me that a fellow officer provided you with the description of this so-called offender,” said the attorney. “And do you trust your fellow officers?

Of course,” said the officer. “I would trust him with my life.”

The attorney looked at the jury, again, then turned back to the officer and said, slowly, “You would trust him with your life?

Yes, sir,” said the officer.

The defence attorney paused momentarily and then said, “Let me ask you this, then, officer. Do you have a room where you change your clothes in preparation for your duties?

Yes, sir, we do,” the police officer responded.

And presumably you have a locker in that room?” the attorney continued.

Yes, sir, I do,” said the officer.

And do you lock away your possessions in that locker?” the attorney continued.

Yes, sir, I do,” the officer continued.

Now that’s interesting, said the attorney, once again looking towards the jury for dramatic effect.

So,” the attorney continued, “you say you’d trust your fellow officers with your life, and yet you feel the need to lock away your possessions in a room you share with those officers.”

Again, the attorney allowed a momentary pause for effect before saying, “Why is that officer?

The old police officer suppressed a smile before he said, “Well, sir, we share the building with the court complex, and sometimes lawyers have been known to walk through our locker room.

10 powerful tips to be successful in life

10 TIPS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN LIFE

Looking for some useful tips to be successful in life, dear reader? What habits should you develop? Today, I present to you my top 10 list.

What’s the key to success?

Well, I can tell you right now that there’s no one, single thing that on its own will ensure that you enjoy some personal success. There’s no silver bullet, I’m afraid.

However, there are things you can do and habits you can develop that will help you to become the successful person you really could be.

Dear reader, you can be successful, and it’s never too late. Other people succeed, so why not you?

Know what you want and know why:

Essentially, success comes from knowing what you want and knowing why.

If you establish some goals and take a disciplined approach towards achieving those goals, then you’re on your way.

However, you’ll also need to adopt some good habits that will help you achieve those goals and help you to keep going until you get to where you want to be.

Adopting good habits will also mark you out as a role model for others, which means you’ll be a leader.

TIPS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN LIFE
Make Money

Tips to be successful in life:

Here is my list of the top 10 tips to be successful in life.

These are good habits you really ought to consider developing from now on:-

1. Believe in yourself:

You must believe in yourself, dear reader. That’s a given if success is your aim. If you don’t believe in yourself then why would anyone else believe in you?

If you lack self-belief, then you must start reinforcing a belief in yourself straightaway with a daily mantra.

Every morning and every evening, go to your bathroom mirror and repeat the following to yourself 10 times each time:-

“I’m as good as anyone, and I’m better than most. I will be a success.”

You must remind yourself of this constantly.

Self-belief is an essential ingredient if you’re going to succeed. Reminding yourself that you’re as good as anyone will help reinforce self-belief in both your conscious and subconscious minds.

Believing in yourself and your ability to succeed is more important than anything else. It is if success is your aim, I can tell you that from experience.

2. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else:

You are who you are, and you can only be the person you are. Anything else would be a fake.

You have your own special qualities and no one else on earth is quite like you. You have your own strengths and of course, you have a few weaknesses too. Everyone does.

Other people have their own unique qualities too, of course. However, that doesn’t mean they’re better than you.

They’re just different. You can’t be them, so don’t try. And they can’t be you either. So concentrate on being yourself. Everyone else is taken.

If you want to be a star, then you must shine for being you and for the special magic that only you can bring to this world. You’re unique, so take pride in that and put your best foot forward.

Never compare yourself to anyone else, and never fret if you feel that you can’t match someone else in some particular way. Remember, there will be ways in which they cannot match you either.

3. Always keep the main thing the main thing:

Whether you like it or not, you’ll be judged by what you deliver and the value you add.

If your job is to paint my house, then I will judge you on how well you’ve painted my house.

I don’t care how much help you might have given to my neighbour. If you’ve painted my house badly or the job hasn’t been done properly, then you’ve failed as far as I’m concerned. Do the job badly and I will not be happy.

Often in the workplace, our inability to say “No” leads us to be completely distracted by a request to help someone else.

And that distraction can result in us failing to do something that would have moved us closer to the successful conclusion of one of the goals we’ve set for ourselves.

Losing sight of our own high-value tasks can make us less productive and less valuable in the eyes of our employers. Workplace distractions can lead to us helping other people achieve their objectives at the expense of our own if we’re not careful.

Being a team player is important, of course, and there will be occasions when assisting a colleague is the right thing to do for the greater good of the team. However, it should never, ever be at the expense of you delivering what you will be expected to deliver, regardless.

You’re judged by what you deliver, so never lose focus on what you’re expected to do.

Never be afraid to be assertive. You don’t have to be chippy, unpleasant or impolite. You just have to say something like, “Look I’m really sorry, I would love to help you but I have this to complete by 5 pm” or whatever.

Remember, appearing to be reasonable is much better for you than trying to be too reasonable.

Always, always keep the main thing the main thing.

Being too helpful may help others, but it probably won’t help you.

It will, however, increase your stress levels if you’re not careful.

Focus on your own goals ruthlessly.

4. Accept that you will make mistakes occasionally:

No professional likes to make mistakes.

Nevertheless, they are inevitable occasionally. That’s a fact of life.

No one is so perfect that they can avoid mistakes completely. And no one ever achieved anything without making a few mistakes along the way.

So it’s fine to make mistakes occasionally, provided you don’t make too many and provided you don’t make the same mistakes repeatedly.

When you’ve made a mistake, it’s important to be honest, accept it, and above all, learn from it.

Making mistakes is all part of us gaining that valuable commodity known as experience.

So just do your best and accept that, like everyone else, you’re not perfect, nor will you ever be.

However, remember this: just because you’re not perfect, it doesn’t mean you cannot be exceptional at what you do. As professionals, we always strive to get better at what we do.

Mastery of your craft is a worthy aim and one that requires constant study and practice, and occasionally making mistakes.

5. Don’t be afraid to take a few risks:

Risk and reward go hand in hand. You can’t have one without the other.

You’ll never achieve anything exceptional if you always play it safe. Well, not unless you’re very, very lucky anyway.

Sometimes you just have to follow your instincts and go for it.

That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t weigh up the pros and cons before you take action. It’s fine to consider the potential consequences before you take a risk. Equally, it’s fine to consider the odds of achieving a positive outcome and whether the potential reward merits the degree of risk involved.

Consider risk carefully, but don’t dwell on it too long. Analysis shouldn’t replace action. You cannot get to second base unless you take your foot off first base and go for it.

And anytime you take a risk, don’t panic if initially, things don’t go quite as you’d imagined.

If you’ve used your judgement with care, then there’s every possibility that you’ll get the outcome you want.

So hold your nerve and just believe in yourself.

You may not get it right every time, but you’ll get it right more than you get it wrong. And even when you’re wrong, you’ll learn a lesson.

Get it right and you’ll be that much closer to achieving a goal.

So be willing to take a calculated risk when necessary.

6. Learn from experience:

As suggested earlier, experience is a valuable commodity.

It’s the by-product of making mistakes and taking risks. It’s the invaluable benefit we derive when things don’t quite work out as we’d intended.

The most important thing about experience is that we learn from it.

And of course, we can learn from seeing others make mistakes, too, as well as from anything we’ve done ourselves.

The lessons we get from real experience are far more valuable to us than anything anyone can tell us, or anything we can read in a book for that matter.

It’s the education we get at the University of Life and the School of Hard Knocks.

However, remember this: you don’t owe anyone an explanation for your mistakes.

When you make a mistake, it makes sense to be honest with yourself and others, of course. Beyond that, you should not feel the need to explain yourself in detail.

Mistakes happen, and no one starts with the intention of getting something wrong. If you get an outcome you didn’t want, then just take it on the chin, learn the lesson, and move on.

Everyone makes mistakes occasionally, and you’re no different. To err is human. That’s life.

7. Never take anything personally:

The French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre once observed that “Hell is other people.

I’m sure there are times when we all feel that he may have had a point.

We’re all struggling to get through life as best we can, and life’s never easy for anyone. Everyone wants what they believe to be their fair share of life’s ‘pie’. Some people want your share too.

Sometimes that can leave us feeling like everyone is giving us grief and deliberately making life more difficult than it needs to be.

However, mostly in our dealings with people, there’s nothing personal.

Life is just ‘dog-eat-dog’. People may be a little insensitive at times, as they pursue their own agenda, but generally, they’re not out to hurt us specifically.

So if it’s not personal, then never take it personally.

And on those rare occasions when it does prove to be personal, don’t give them the satisfaction of a reaction or showing that they’ve got to you.

Look them in the eye and show them that it doesn’t bother you. Your message has to be:

8. If you’re digging a hole for yourself, stop digging:

When you realise you’re digging a hole for yourself, you have two choices:-

  1. You can keep digging, and the hole in which you find yourself will simply get bigger and more problematic; or
  2. You can recognize the situation for what it is and stop digging immediately.

It is always best to stop digging immediately, in my experience.

When you stop digging, you might have a few fences to mend, of course.

Certainly, you’ll have to accept responsibility.

And you’ll probably have to apologize to some people, depending on the circumstances.

Regardless of what it all means, it’s always better to recognize a bad situation for what it is and take it on the chin, rather than making everything even worse.

On the positive side, having the ability to recognize when you’re digging a hole for yourself and having the maturity to deal with the consequences is a sign of self-confidence. That’s something for which you’ll gain other people’s respect.

In my experience, people will respect you if you’re prepared to say, “Hey, you know what, I’ve made a bit of a mess of this one, so I’ll stop right here and let’s try again. Sorry but like everyone else, I’m not perfect and I make mistakes occasionally.

Just because you didn’t quite get it right doesn’t mean you cannot show confidence in how you respond.

Respond in the right way, and your confidence will be well placed.

9. Let go of any anger:

We all get angry occasionally, but anger never gets you anywhere worth going.

React in anger, and almost certainly you’ll regret it.

That’s not to suggest that you should not react at all. However, before you react, let the anger subside. Just let it go.

Leave it for 24 hours if necessary, until you’re better able to reflect with a calm head. There’s a lot to be said for ‘sleeping on it’ in my experience.

That way, you’re better placed to use your judgement carefully and make rational decisions.

In making decisions, revenge should not form any part of how you plan to react.

Revenge won’t get you to any place worth going, either, and you’ll almost certainly regret that too.

10. Learn to switch off:

We all need a little ‘me time’ regularly, otherwise, we’ll burn out.

We all need time to relax and recharge our batteries.

That means switching off completely.

By doing that, one of the great benefits is that we gain a fresh perspective on whatever’s happening in our lives.

Surprisingly, perhaps we’ll also get plenty of new ideas in the process.

In fact, you’ll find you get some of your best ideas when you’re not trying to come up with new ideas. That’s ironic, I know, but it’s true, in my experience.

Bonus tip:

Don’t take yourself too seriously. No one else does.

If you can’t laugh at yourself occasionally, you might just be missing out on the funniest thing happening at that moment. Why miss out on a good laugh?

When you’re working, take your job seriously, but never yourself.

Make Money

Concluding remarks:

So there you have it. If you want to be successful, start by developing good habits.

This list of tips would be a good start, but you will find that there are plenty of others too.

Above all else, make sure you’re adding value to everything you do. Our purpose in life should be to add value to the lives of others.

If you’re adding genuine value, then you can’t go too far wrong.

So, dear reader, where do you add the most value, and what are your goals?

You should know the answers to these questions, and you should write them down.

If you don’t know, it’s time to find some answers.

Nothing ever happens by accident. You have to make it happen.

You can be successful, everyone can, but it requires you to know where you’re going; to know why you’re going there, and to be prepared to work very hard until you get there.

You can do it, dear reader. So, good luck!

VOICE OF EXPERIENCE: 45 life lessons everyone should know

If you’re looking for some lessons from the voice of experience, then I’ve been on this earth long enough to have learned quite a few.

Usually, I share these lessons on my microblog, otherwise known as my X feed.

However, today I thought readers might be interested to read some of my more recent observations about life and the human condition.

Here are 45 life lessons I’ve learned, many of which I’ve learned the hard way, and I hope you find them interesting and useful.

Please feel free to share them with your friends.

VOICE OF EXPERIENCE
Make Money

Lessons from the voice of experience (1-10):

  1. On Spaceship Earth, we’re all crew.
  2. People believe what they want to believe.
  3. Visibility matters. Personal PR is essential.
  4. We’re all products of the choices we make.
  5. Life is life, and we cope with it as best we can.
  6. You can listen to the wise or let adversity teach you.
  7. You’re not committed to anything until you start taking action.
  8. Don’t underestimate the power of your voice. Your voice matters.
  9. If you don’t go for it, then you won’t get it. Not unless you’re lucky.
  10. Create your own job, and you’ll never be threatened by layoffs again.

Lessons from the voice of experience (11-20):

  1. A question asked does not imply an obligation to provide an answer.
  2. Your future’s yet to be written, but the good news is that you’ve got the pen.
  3. Political power derives from a group of like-minded people acting as one.
  4. Income does not determine your wealth if you keep spending more than you earn.
  5. You won’t regret the things you didn’t buy, but you may regret the things you didn’t do.
  6. Focus on where you’re going, not where you’ve been. What’s ahead is what matters most.
  7. Differentiate yourself from the competition. You won’t stand out if you’re just the same as everyone else.
  8. Your years on this earth will teach you far more than you could possibly learn in any school, college, or university.
  9. What you get out of life will be in direct proportion to what you put in. You’ll get very little out if you’ve put nothing in.
  10. If you don’t use it, don’t let it go to waste. Sell it. Someone else can use it, and you have a little extra money in the bank.

Lessons from the voice of experience (21-30):

  1. A promotion at work is not a reward for what you’ve done in the past; it’s an opportunity to show what you can do in the future.
  2. Just because they seem nice doesn’t mean they are nice. Don’t be too trusting of people you barely know. Trust must be earned.
  3. Ridiculous notions take root because the silent majority don’t have the guts to say, “No! I’m not playing that game.”
  4. Happiness is a state of mind. It’s finding a little joy in everything you do. Life’s challenges are there for all of us. Don’t let them steal your joy.
  5. We’ll keep making the same mistake until we learn the lesson the mistake was intended to teach us. Life is a classroom, and the lessons never stop.
  6. No one is right all the time, and it would be unwise to assume otherwise. So listen carefully to others before deciding on what you think may be right.
  7. If you want to make money, be the solution to someone’s problem. There will always be people with problems willing to pay someone to provide a solution.
  8. Never use other people just so you can feel better about yourself. Help people by all means, but out of genuine benevolence rather than your own self-interest.
  9. When others do unspeakable things that hurt you, the best revenge is to move on and enjoy your own happy life. Show them you don’t need them; it’ll drive them nuts.
  10. Real friends are people you could call at 3 a.m. if you were in trouble, and know they’d be willing to help you. Internet friends are nothing more than digital acquaintances.

Lessons from the voice of experience (31-35):

  1. We all want to be someone or something else, but we can only be the people we are and deal as best we can with the cards life has dealt us. Frustrating as it may be, that’s life.
  2. If society’s direction of travel is not to your liking, then make your voice heard loudly, in collaboration with like-minded people. If enough people speak, things can change.
  3. It’s for us to give our lives meaning. Our aim should be to leave a legacy by doing something that will add value to the lives of others and make the world a slightly better place.
  4. You can eat well, sleep well, get regular exercise, and drink plenty of water, but you’re still going to die. So make sure you enjoy life while you can, and don’t be too obsessed with healthy living.
  5. Never let anyone tell you how you should think. Think for yourself and draw your own conclusions. No one has a monopoly on knowing what’s best. Your opinion is just as valid as the next person’s.
voice-of-experience
Make Money

Lessons from the voice of experience (36-40):

  1. Remaining loyal to the circumstances into which you were born is not a noble act. It’s perfectly reasonable to want more out of life. Just because you were born poor doesn’t mean you must remain poor.
  2. Never, ever put anything in print that you wouldn’t want coming back to haunt you later. If there’s a record there’s always a chance that someone could use it against you when it suits them to do so.
  3. In a civilised world, physically attacking people is unacceptable, of course. So when we’re upset with others, we attack them with words. We lob ‘word bombs’ at them in the hope we’ll hurt them that way.
  4. To remain silent is to be irrelevant. A quiet life will come at a cost to you. The cost is that people with louder voices are moving the world in a direction you may not like. Speak up, or live with the consequences.
  5. Those with an unshakable belief in the virtue of their own opinions will never be swayed by contrary opinions expressed by others, regardless of how much evidence is offered in support of those opinions.

Lessons from the voice of experience (41-45):

  1. Unkind speech is not the same as hate speech. Much of what is often described as hate speech is just people saying things that are unkind and even deeply unpleasant, but they’re not necessarily rooted in hate.
  2. The game of Monopoly tells you all you need to know about getting rich. Use the money you have to buy assets that will generate income. Use that income to buy more assets to generate more income to buy more assets to generate even more income. Keep repeating the process, and you’ll get rich.
  3. Ideological positions don’t have to be accepted without question. They can and should be challenged. If they have sufficient merit they’ll withstand a challenge. If they don’t, they’ll fall, as they should. Don’t allow yourself to be intimidated by ideologues.
  4. The university system has become a racket. Unless your ambition is to secure a job for which a degree is mandatory, you’re wasting your time and money by going to university. You’re unlikely to get a return on the debt you’ll incur. Consider your options carefully.
  5. Successful relationships are underpinned by friendship, and friendship is a relationship of equals. Both parties must feel they’re getting what they need from the relationship. So before asking, what can a potential partner offer me? Ask yourself, what do I have to offer a potential partner? If the answer is nothing positive, don’t be surprised if you struggle to find a partner.
