25 Picasso quotes that will make you think

Today I thought it would be interesting to explore some Picasso quotes.

Pablo Ruiz Picasso was one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. While best known as a painter, he was also a sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist and theatre designer.

Spanish by birth but he spent most of his adult life in France.

Picasso demonstrated extraordinary artistic talent in his early years, painting in a naturalistic manner through his childhood and adolescence.

During the first decade of the 20th century, his style changed as he experimented with different theories, techniques, and ideas, so Picasso’s work is often categorized into periods.

Picasso was a successful man who made his mark on life. And it’s always worth listening to what successful people have to say.

So, dear reader, take a few moments to read these Picasso quotes and reflect on what they all mean.

Picasso Quotes (1-12)

  1. Youth has no age.
  2. I do not seek. I find.

  11. Success is dangerous. One begins to copy oneself, and to copy oneself is more dangerous than copying others. It leads to sterility.
  12. When I was a child, my mother said to me, ‘If you become a soldier, you’ll be a general. If you become a monk, you’ll end up as the Pope.’ Instead, I became a painter and wound up as Picasso.

Never underestimate the importance of personal philosophy in terms of how your life will progress.

Feed the positive and you’ll enjoy better life experiences.

I’m not an American but I love American culture and American thinking and positivity. And I’ve learnt a lot from reading books by some of the great American philosophers and you can too.

So let’s start with these inspiring quotes by some American philosophers which I’ve read in the recent past. These are some great quotes and they will help you form your own personal philosophy.

17 thought-provoking quotes about war and why it’s truly mad

Quotes About WarDoes war ever solve anything? That’s a debatable point, to say the least.

There have been so many wars in my lifetime and yet what have they solved, really? It seems to me that war never actually resolves anything at all.

War causes bitterness and hatred between people and these feelings can fester for generations.

For me, war is best summed up by Bertrand Russell’s famous observation, “War doesn’t decide who’s right, only who’s left.

As far as I can see, war creates more problems than it solves. Often it creates a vacuum which is then filled by people with truly evil intent.

Ultimately differences between people require compromise and a political solution. We have to learn to live together and meet others halfway.

Yes, there will be times when we have to be resolute and tough but fighting should be avoided whenever possible and it should always be possible.

If I have learned one thing it is this; if politicians had to go to war and do the fighting, and take their own sons and daughters with them, there would be no wars.

The problem we have today is that none of our politicians now have any first-hand experience of the reality of war. None have experienced the horrors of battle. If they had, they would take a very different approach, of that I am sure.

However let me say this; whether war can be justified or otherwise, we must always respect the warriors.

For the warriors do what they do in good faith and at great personal risk to themselves. They act without question and with the intent of protecting us. They do the bidding of politicians. So if anyone is to blame, it’s always the politicians. Let us never forget.

Here are 17 quotes about war to underline today’s message.

Quotes about war (1-10):

  1. War is a defeat for humanity. ~Pope John Paul II
  2. If we don’t end war, war will end us. ~H. G. Wells
  3. When the rich wage war, it’s the poor who die. ~Jean-Paul Sartre
  4. War doesn’t decide who’s right, only who’s left. ~Bertrand Russell
  5. You can no more win a war than you can win an earthquake. ~Jeannette Rankin
  6. In peace, sons bury their fathers. In war, fathers bury their sons. ~Herodotus
  7. The military doesn’t start wars. Politicians start wars. ~William Westmoreland
  8. The more you sweat in peace, the less you bleed in war. ~Norman Schwarzkopf
  9. Politics is war without bloodshed while war is politics with bloodshed. ~Mao Zedong
  10. Older men declare war. But it is the youth that must fight and die. ~Herbert Hoover

Quotes about war (11-17):

  1. Mankind must put an end to war before war puts an end to mankind. ~John F. Kennedy
  2. Being prepared for war is one of the most effective means of preserving peace. ~George Washington
  3. What a cruel thing war is; to fill our hearts with hatred instead of love for our neighbours. ~Robert E. Lee
  4. The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his. ~George S. Patton
  5. I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones. ~Albert Einstein
  6. I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality, its futility, its stupidity. ~Dwight D. Eisenhower
  7. I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation. War is hell. ~William Tecumseh Sherman

15 quotes about communication that’ll make you think

quotes about communicationIn the field of human relations, effective communication is very important. Yet communication or lack of it is so often the cause of so many of our problems. After all, it’s not what we say, it’s what we mean. In this post, there are 15 quotes about communication to help you consider this point.

We may think we’ve said something clearly but did the other person understand the meaning of our words in the way they were intended? Did we use the right words to convey our underlying message?

All too often we fail to get our message across clearly. Then we can find ourselves arguing with someone due to a miscommunication when in fact both parties have no underlying disagreement at all.

If you’re the communicator then it is your responsibility to ensure that the receiver of your communication understands its meaning clearly. It is not the receiver’s job to work out what you really meant. And of course, it’s not only what you say, but it’s also the way that you say it.

I can use exactly the same words with different tones and convey a totally different meaning. For instance, if you walk into a room and I say your name warmly and with a smile then it suggests I’m pleased to see you and you will respond accordingly.

Alternatively, if I scream your name, aggressively, as you enter that same room then you will conclude that I am not happy with you at all and you will become very defensive.

So think carefully before you speak. If you’re in any role where you are a leader of people then good communication skills are vital if you are to execute your duties successfully.

So learn the art of good communication and remember that your tone is as important as your words.

Treat people with respect and they will respond well. Put them at ease when speaking with them and make sure they clearly understand your message as it was intended. Good communication is essential for effective leadership.
