What is fear? Here are 10 quotes to put it into perspective

What is fearWhat is fear? A simple question you might think but fear is an emotion that’s often misunderstood

Sometimes we can be paralysed by fear and yet it’s only the body’s natural mechanism for heightening our sense of awareness in times of potential danger.

Fear sharpens our sense of the risks involved in given situations. By definition risk is the possibility of an outcome we really don’t want.

However risk and reward have a direct correlation. No risk; no reward. Yes, by taking a risk, you might end up with an undesirable outcome but equally you might just achieve a desirable prize too.

Our sense of fear should make us tread carefully of course but it shouldn’t stop us treading at all. It’s all about weighing up the percentages and taking a sensible approach to any given situation. Avoiding unnecessary risks but taking calculated risks.

If we are to be successful, we must face up to our fear. We must recognize the reason for our fear but that fear should not control us. We should control the fear. We should feel the fear but do it anyway.

So I say to you, never let fear stop you having a go. The alternative would be to look back with regret at what might have been. And who wants that?

It’s better to be someone who can look themselves in the eye and know they always gave it their best shot regardless of how they were feeling at the time.
