Quote of the Day

Vector illustration of speech bubbles“There are four ways, and only four ways, in which we have contact with the world. We are evaluated and classified by these four contacts: What we do, how we look, what we say, and how we say it.” ~Dale Carnegie

Dale Carnegie was absolutely right. We are all being judged all the time, whether we like it or not. Perhaps you don’t care how others judge you. However the way you are being judged will have an impact on your life experiences, good or bad. If you look like an idiot, people will treat you like an idiot. If you appear to be useless, people will assume that you are and treat you accordingly. If you speak poorly in a voice which sounds uneducated then, again, people will assume that this is the case and treat you accordingly. All of these factors could make the difference between whether you receive a job offer or not, for instance. If you don’t look like the man or woman for the job and/or you don’t sound like the man or women for the job then quite simply you won’t get the job. So it’s a good idea to think carefully about the impression you are creating and do something about it if necessary. There is nothing wrong with improving your appearance or taking elocution lessons if that’s what it takes. Don’t let your pride come between you and achieving what you really want in life. You have to do whatever you have to do. That’s a fact, so get over it and do whatever it takes, starting right now.
