15 Quotes by Betty White

Betty Marion White Ludden, known professionally as Betty White, is an American actor and comedian born in 1922.

She’s had the longest television career of any female entertainer.

Not only is she an actor, she is also one of the first women to have control both in front of and behind the camera and she is recognized as the first woman to produce a sitcom.

She is probably best known for her roles in The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Golden Girls and, more recently, Hot in Cleveland.

However she’s had a successful career spanning more than 75 years and she’s received eight Emmy awards in various categories.

And she continues to work despite her age.

What makes her interesting for me is her positive attitude.

Whenever you hear her speak or give advice she’s always so positive and that’s a quality I admire in people.

So here are 15 quotes by Betty White to illustrate my point.

Quotes by Betty White:

  1. I just make it my business to get along with people so I can have fun. It’s that simple. ~Betty White
  2. It’s your outlook on life that counts. If you take yourself lightly and don’t take yourself too seriously, pretty soon you can find the humor in our everyday lives. And sometimes it can be a lifesaver. ~Betty White
  3. I may be a senior but so what? I’m still hot. ~Betty White
  4. I think it’s your mental attitude. So many of us start dreading age in high school and that’s a waste of a lovely life. ‘Oh… I’m 30, oh, I’m 40, oh, 50.’ Make the most of it. ~Betty White
  5. I have a two-story house and a bad memory, so I’m up and down those stairs all the time. That’s my exercise. ~Betty White
  6. The bottom line is, I’m blessed with good health. On top of that, I don’t go around thinking ‘Oh, I’m 90, I better do this or I better do that.’ I’m just Betty. I’m the same Betty that I’ve always been. Take it or leave it. ~Betty White
  7. Retirement is not in my vocabulary. They aren’t going to get rid of me that way. ~Betty White
  8. Don’t try to be young. Just open your mind. Stay interested in stuff. There are so many things I won’t live long enough to find out about, but I’m still curious about them. You know people who are already saying, ‘I’m going to be 30 – oh, what am I going to do?’ Well, use that decade! Use them all! ~Betty White
  9. I really don’t care with whom you sleep. I just care what kind of a decent human being you are. ~Betty White
  10. I’m having the time of my life and the fact that I’m still working – how lucky can you get? I’m 90 years old and still able to work as much as I do. That’s a privilege. ~Betty White
  11. I didn’t know what Facebook was, and now that I do know what it is, I have to say, it sounds like a huge waste of time. ~Betty White
  12. The audience today has heard every joke. They know every plot. They know where you’re going before you even start. That’s a tough audience to surprise, and a tough audience to write for. It’s much more competitive now, because the audience is so much more – I want to say ‘sophisticated.’ ~Betty White
  13. A lot of people think this is a goody-two-shoes talking. But we do have a tendency to complain rather than celebrating who we are. I learned at my mother’s knee it’s better to appreciate what’s happening. I think we kind of talk ourselves into the negative sometimes. ~Betty White
  14. Animals don’t lie. Animals don’t criticize. If animals have moody days, they handle them better than humans do. ~Betty White
  15. If you’re walking with your lady on the sidewalk, I still like to see a man walking street-side, to protect the lady from traffic. I grew up with that, and I hate to see something like that get lost. I still like to see that a man opens the door. I like those touches of chivalry that are fast disappearing. If I sound old-fashioned, it’s because I’m as old as I am! But it’s just polite. ~Betty White

21 thought-provoking quotes about life

What is life really all about? That’s a question we all ask ourselves occasionally.

In fact we’re all searching for life’s meaning constantly it seems to me. That’s why quotes about life are so popular with people.

For some people life can be very hard, whilst others appear to lead a charmed life seemingly without any problems at all.

However never judge a person’s situation by first appearances. In reality, everyone has problems and challenges. Everyone struggles, at least occasionally.

No one goes through life without being tested from time to time.

Just because people don’t appear to have problems doesn’t mean they live lives that are problem free.

However it is through life’s challenges that our characters are formed. All you can do is take a philosophical approach with life and enjoy the ride.

If you’re searching for meaning today then here are 21 thought-provoking quotes about life to help you reflect and think about what matters most to you and yours:-

Quotes about life:

  1. You only live once but if you do it right, once is enough. ~Mae West

  20. Whenever you want to achieve something, keep your eyes open, concentrate and make sure you know exactly what it is you want. No one can hit their target with their eyes closed. ~Paulo Coelho
  21. This life is what you make it. No matter what, you’re going to mess up sometimes, it’s a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you’re going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends; they’ll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything; they’re your true best friends. Don’t let go of them. Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they’ll come and go too. And baby, I hate to say it, most of them, actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can’t give up because if you give up, you’ll never find your soulmate. You’ll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn’t mean you’re gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don’t, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life’s a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about. ~Marilyn Monroe

21 thought-provoking quotes about not being good enough

Have you ever had a crisis of confidence?

Have you ever felt you’re not quite good enough?

Well, if you have, you’re not alone. Most people have those feelings, at least occasionally. Such feelings are not unique to you dear reader.

We all battle with our inner thoughts. Other people may appear to be sailing through life without a care in the world but you’ll usually find that’s not actually their reality.

However things may appear, you can’t know what’s going on in their lives and in their heads and you can’t know the challenges they face.

We all experience that feeling of not being good enough, maybe not all the time but certainly some of the time.

Let’s face it we all need to feel loved and appreciated. We all want to feel that our lives matter to someone. Most people are conscientious and most of us are keen to please others, especially our parents.

We genuinely want to meet the expectations our parents’ have of us. However the bar can be set quite high at times and inevitably we feel we’ve let them down if our lives don’t meet what we believe their expectations to be.

Parents’ mean well by having expectations of us and in many ways those expectations can motivate us to achieve more than perhaps we would have achieved otherwise.

However those expectations can often be rooted in their own vanity. Rooted in their desire to be able to boast about how well their children are doing in life, relative to other peoples’ kids. They imagine by doing this they will get a little reflected glory. If their kids are doing well then they must be great parents, surely?

We all need a challenge and we all need goals that will stretch us. However if the bar is set too high it can be damaging when the inevitable failure occurs. At the very least it can knock our confidence. At the other extreme it can result in longer-term mental health problems.

As individuals it’s important that we do our best. So, as long as we believe we’ve done our very best then we shouldn’t worry about whether that fulfilled someone else’s expectations of us or not.

We must constantly remind ourselves that we’re as good as anyone and our lives matter just as much as the next person’s.

You are good enough dear reader, even if you don’t realize it.

You will never please everyone, so don’t try.

Just focus on pleasing yourself and being the best version of you that you can reasonably be.

Here are 21 thought-provoking quotes about not being good enough to help you reflect on the issue.

Quotes about not being good enough:

  1. Who hurt you? My own expectations. ~Author Unknown
  2. The way you speak of yourself; the way you degrade yourself; into smallness; this is abuse. ~Rupi Kaur
  3. And it is easy to believe you are not good enough if you listen to everybody else. ~Mackenzie Astin
